Mark Eccleston (born December 2, 1969 in Widnes ) is a retired British wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Mark Eccleston started wheelchair tennis at the age of 25 and started in the quadriplegic class .

In 2004 he played his first and only Paralympic Games in Athens . In the individual he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Bas van Erp . In doubles, he won the silver medal alongside Peter Norfolk after losing to David Wagner and Nick Taylor in the final . In the same year he ended his career.

In the world rankings, he temporarily held the lead in both singles and doubles. He achieved this for the first time in singles on February 11, 2002 and in doubles on April 7, 1998.
