Mark Monmonier
Mark Stephen Monmonier (born February 2, 1943 ) is an American writer and professor of geography at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University .
Life
His research areas are the study of the relationships between geographic information and society, the history of cartography in the 20th century, cartographic design and geoecology .
In numerous specialist articles and popular science books, he repeatedly and critically analyzed the role of modern cartography and its social responsibility - above all against the background of recent technical developments in computer cartography, geographical information systems and remote sensing .
Mark Monmonier became known beyond the United States with his book How to Lie with Maps , which has been translated into various languages.
