Mark Scheinberg

Mark Scheinberg (born 1973 in Israel ) is an Israeli- Canadian entrepreneur, co-founder and former co-owner of the online poker platform PokerStars .

Early life

Mark Scheinberg was born in Israel to Isai Scheinberg , but moved to Toronto , Canada when he was 13 . There the family settled in Richmond Hill , where Isai Scheinberg still owned the house in 2011 that they bought in 1988.

Career

In 2001, Mark founded PokerStars with his father, software developer Isai Scheinberg. In June 2014 it was announced that the PokerStars parent company (Rational Group Ltd) had been acquired by Amaya Gaming Group of Canada for 4.9 billion US dollars . Scheinberg was the head of the company and a 75% shareholder in Rational. Full Tilt Poker also belonged to Rational . As part of the deal, Scheinberg left Rational. According to Forbes , Scheinberg has total assets of $ 4.5 billion (as of March 2017). As of May 2017, Scheinberg was the richest person on the Isle of Man .

In May 2017 it was announced that Scheinberg is investing in a multi-million dollar real estate project called Centro Canalejas Madrid in Madrid , Spain.

Mohari acquired 50% of the shares in Centro for EUR 225 million from the Grupo OHL subsidiary OHL Desarrollos and the industrial group Villa Mir, both of which also held shares. With an opening date set for 2019, the project provides for the renovation of seven historic neighboring buildings for residential, hotel and commercial premises. With plenty of retail space, the complex will also house the first Four Seasons Hotel in Spain and create 4,800 jobs.

In September 2017, a Canadian subsidiary of Mohari Hospitality acquired the Thompson Toronto Hotel in downtown Toronto , Ontario . The "boutique" hotel has 105 rooms, function rooms as well as restaurants and lounges.
