Marko Asmer

Marko Asmer (born July 30, 1984 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian racing driver . In 2007 he won the British Formula 3 Championship and competed in the first tests in Formula 1 . This makes him the first Estonian racing driver in the highest motorsport category. For 2008 he was hired as a test driver by the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Since the fourth race weekend in Magny-Cours , Asmer has been competing in the GP2 series for the Fisichella Motor Sport team .

Asmer's father is the former racing driver and five-time Soviet racing champion Toivo Asmer , who was also Estonia's Interior Minister between 1999 and 2003.
