Market fountain (Vellberg)
The market fountain from 1720 is located on the market square in the old town of Vellberg .
description
The trough of the market fountain is made of cast iron and shows the coat of arms of the imperial city Hall , to which Vellberg belonged from 1596 to 1802. It is flanked by the reliefs of Justice and Faith and crowned by the imperial eagle. In 1966 the market fountain was given a new fountain column made of sandstone, which is decorated with the faces of the gourmand, the glutton and the curmudgeon. Wine flowed from the fountain for the first time at its inauguration. The Weinbrunnen Festival has been celebrated in Vellberg on the first weekend in July since 1968 and has since become the largest festival in Vellberg.
