The Linz market hall is located in the old town house Altstadt 12 and was taken over by the city of Linz in 1524.

The house was used as a city ​​scales and armory until 1923 . The municipality of Linz rented the building to local suppliers from 1959, with two grocery stores, a butcher and a florist in the market hall in the 1960s and 1970s. In 2015, the now listed building was sold to a community of investors in Linz's old town, who subjected it to extensive renovation. An event hall with modern lighting, sound and stage technology was built on the upper floor, which is mostly used by a dance school. Markthalle 12 GmbH operates on the ground floor. a Greisslerei with restaurant business and a "Kastl market," feed the regional producers. This makes the market hall a kind of village shop in the historic center of Linz.
