The Kiribati Dollar is the currency of Kiribati . The first coins were minted and issued in 1979.

Circulation coins

There are coins in circulation at 1 ¢, 2 ¢, 5 ¢, 10 ¢, 20 ¢, 50 ¢, $ 1 and, since 1989, also at $ 2; Furthermore, various commemorative coins of $ 2, $ 5, $ 10, $ 20, $ 50 and $ 150 were minted. The $ 50 coin and four $ 5 coins are part of a set in which the Kiribati coins can be combined with a similar coin from Samoa to form a circular coin.

The Kiribati dollar does not have its own banknotes, Australian dollar bills are in circulation, as the Australian dollar is also valid currency in Kiribati.
