Markus Baltensperger (born January 22, 1970 in Weil am Rhein ), also known as Markus B. , is a Hamburg-based German musician, singer, songwriter and producer.

Life

Markus Baltensperger began his career in the 1980s. When he was fifteen, the native of South Baden founded his first band as a guitarist and singer. Soon afterwards they noticed his musical talent and a little later he was brought into a soul band, which quickly gained regional reputation.

At the same time, he completed a technical training course. In the USA he completed a practice-oriented music course at the "Musicians Institute" in Los Angeles . After returning to Germany, he settled in Hamburg and wrote his own songs that range between jazz, rock, pop, R&B and country. He interprets songs from Al Jarreau or James Taylor to Sting, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. In the meantime he played with Indra Afia, Trixi Delgado, Bonny Ferrer & The Latin Souls and Inusa's Groove Factory, among others.

In 2007 his debut album "Classic Covers" was released with purely acoustic instruments, which made Nena aware of him. She invited him to play the guitars on her children's album "Himmel, Sonne, Wind und Regen". By working in various recording studios, he continued to work as a producer.

He continues to perform solo or with his band. It includes musicians like Jörg Berger (drums, Bonny Ferrer & The Latin Souls), Leandro Saint-Hill (Sax & Flute, Hope Musical, Tony Martínez, Omar Sosa), Pablo Escayola (percussion, Stefan Gwildis Band, Zinoba, Nils Gessinger) , Mustafa Sandal, James Last) or the Australian David Christopher from the Queen Tribute Band or Ricardo Alvarez Cuba (Key, Cubanisimo / Cuateto Chanchull).
