Markus Paul Engert (born September 28, 1968 in Würzburg ) is a German gold and silversmith and freelance artist.

Life

Markus Paul Engert was born in Würzburg on September 28, 1968 as the fourth child of the gold and silversmith master Rudolf Engert. After graduating from high school, he trained as a silversmith in Essen. This was followed by training as a goldsmith in Frankfurt am Main. After studying in the USA, he trained as a certified gemologist and diamond expert at the German Gemological Institute in Idar-Oberstein.

In 1997 Markus Engert returned to Würzburg to take over his parents' goldsmiths. Since then he has been involved in the design of high-quality jewelry objects, utensils and sacred art. In addition to various purchases from museums, he received many commissions for public institutions, private collectors and various dioceses. In 2006 he made the host bowl for Pope Benedict XVI , which he received and inaugurated on the occasion of his visit to Germany at the fair on Islinger Feld in Regensburg. He has also earned a great reputation in the area of ​​restoring historical goldsmithing. In 1998 he opened a gallery for contemporary jewelry and equipment in Würzburg. He is a member of the VKU (Association of Artists in Lower Franconia), the German Society for Goldsmithing and a specialist member of the German Gemological Society .
