Markus Hötzel

Markus Hötzel (born December 29, 1971 in Hückeswagen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German tuba player .

He received his first music lessons from his father on the trumpet . Later he also learned to play the drums , before he also learned to play tuba from 1988. His teachers were Berthold Haas , Ulli Haas, Robert Tucci and Roger Bobo from the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra .

After graduating from high school, the tuba player gained his first orchestral experience with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra . He was a member of the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Dresden Staatskapelle (1996 to 2000). Since March 2000 he has held the position of solo tuba player in the symphony orchestra of the NDR Hamburg . He is also the winner of many national and international competitions. He often plays as a concert soloist abroad. Through his contacts with contemporary composers he created numerous new works for various instrumentations with tuba.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the Melton Tuba Quartet .
