Markus Mode

Markus Mode (* 1954 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German archaeologist and Central Asia researcher.

Life

With his diploma thesis at the University of Halle he acquired decorations on ceramics of the prehistoric cultures of the Nile valley. Contours of a grouping of motifs and motif combinations the Dipl. Phil. 1980, with the dissertation investigations into the excavations of the German Orient Society in Tell el-Amarna 1907 and 1911 to 1914 based on the materials in the State Museums in Berlin / GDR the Dr. phil. 1984 and his habilitation in 1991. Since 1983 he has been an assistant at the Institute for Oriental Archeology at the University of Halle, where he has been an associate professor since 1998 .

His research topics are archeology and art of pre-Islamic Central Asia, Soghd art history and archeology of the early Eurasian nomads.
