The former station building is now used as a restaurant

Marlborough Road is a closed London Underground station on the Metropolitan Line . It belongs to a group of three disused stations that were located between what is now Baker Street and Finchley Road . The other two are Lord’s and Swiss Cottage (not to be confused with the station of the same name on today's Jubilee Line ).

The station was opened on April 13, 1868 as part of the commissioning of the route between Swiss Cottage and Baker Street. The platforms were in a covered cut, the station building was on the corner of Finchley Road and Queen's Grove. The station was always little used. On October 1, 1929, the opening times were greatly reduced; the station was only open on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The closure took place on November 19, 1939 in order to accelerate the Metropolitan Line, which then and now goes far into the surrounding area.

The connection to the underground network was ensured by the opening of the Stanmore branch of the Bakerloo Line (now part of the Jubilee Line) the following day, with St. John's Wood station just a few minutes' walk away. The station building is now used by a Chinese restaurant. The platform systems are no longer preserved. Instead, two short makeshift platforms were built, which are now used as emergency exits.
