Marschlinger Hof 7 (Quedlinburg)
The building Marschlinger Hof 7 in Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt was a half-timbered house from the 17th century that was listed as a historical monument .
location
The house was located in the old town of Quedlinburg at the confluence of Weingarten Street and Marschlinger Hof Street and was thus part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site .
architecture
The house was partly one of the oldest buildings in Quedlinburg and was a defining feature of the street. The building was registered in the city's register of monuments. It had a simple but high hip roof and was partly plastered. It essentially originated in the second half of the 17th century. The facade was changed in the 19th century.
history
The building, which was previously used as a residential building, housed a cobbler's shop until the early 1990s. Due to the sharp decline in population after the fall of the Wall , this building had been empty since the mid-1990s.
At around 11 p.m. on April 13, 2011, the empty building caught fire. Due to the typical house-to-house construction in Quedlinburg city center, the fire spread to Weingarten 16 and 15, which were also vacant. Despite the fire brigade deployed by over 100 firefighters from eight locations, the roof trusses burned down and the upper floors were also partially destroyed. The technical relief organization secured the building. The cause of the fire could not be clarified. In November and December 2012, all three buildings were finally demolished. On the site, together with the neighboring building Marschlinger Hof 6, a residential complex for assisted living was built by Lebenshilfe Quedlinburg, which was inaugurated in November 2016.
