Observatoire de Marseille

The Observatoire de Marseille ( Observatory of Marseille ) is an astronomical observatory , which by the University of Provence is operated.

It is located in Marseille , France . After its establishment, a group of galaxies known as Stephan's Quintet was discovered here by Édouard Stephan in 1877 . The observatory was originally built in front of the city; today, thanks to the growth of Marseilles, it is within the urban area.
