Mart Kivastik

Mart Kivastik (born March 4, 1963 in Tartu ) is an Estonian writer .

life and work

Mart Kivastik initially trained as a choir director. He then studied Estonian language and literature at the University of Tartu from 1984 to 1989 . Since 1991 he has been working as a freelance author and journalist, particularly in the field of culture.

Mart Kivastik made his short story debut in 1987. At first he mainly wrote prose before turning increasingly to drama at the end of the 1990s : "His plays are eloquent eruptions of a bohemian, which are not lacking in absurd elements."

In addition, Kivastik wrote various scripts, including the script for the Estonian feature film Taarka , which was released in 2008. He directed and wrote the screenplay for the feature film Üks mu sõber , which premiered in 2011.
