Marta García (racing driver)

Marta García López (born August 9, 2000 ) is a Spanish racing driver who has been in the W Series since 2019 .

Career

García started her career in kart racing. In 2015 she won the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy . In this competition, 12 to 14-year-old kart drivers compete against each other in standard cars. In the same year she also won the prestigious Trofeo delle Industrie in the KF Junior category.

In 2016 García started as a "Wild Card" pilot in eleven races of the Spanish Formula 4 championship . The following year she became a regular driver for the Dutch MP Motorsport team. She finished the season in 9th place, her best result was a 5th place in Jerez. She was the only female participant to automatically receive the "Female Driver Trophy" at the end of the season.

Also in 2017, García drove three races in the Northern European Formula 4 championship . In 2019 she qualified for the first season of the W Series . After she finished on the podium in the first race, she was able to win the race from pole position at the Norisring. Overall, she achieved fourth place in the championship.

García will also compete in the W Series in 2020.
