Martha Ford

Martha Firestone Ford (born September 16, 1925 in Akron , Ohio ) is an American entrepreneur and former owner of the American football team Detroit Lions , from the National Football League (NFL).

Life

Ford is a granddaughter of Harvey Firestone , founder of the tire manufacturer Firestone Tire & Rubber Company . She attended Vassar College , where she graduated in 1946. In 1947 she married William Clay Ford . This has been the sole owner of the Detroit Lions since 1964. She has owned the team since her husband passed away in 2014.

Martha Ford has four children, including son William Clay Ford Junior ( Bill Ford), 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
