Arthur Blank (born September 27, 1942 in Queens , New York City , New York ) is an American entrepreneur , co-founder of The Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons , a franchise of the National Football League (NFL), and Atlanta United , a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise .

Life

Blank attended Stuyvesant High School. He then studied at Babson College , which he successfully graduated from in 1963, and later worked at Arthur Young and Company . In 1978 he co-founded The Home Depot .

In February 2002, he bought the Atlanta Falcons from Taylor Smith and his siblings, the children of the Falcons' founder, Rankin M. Smith, Sr.

Private life

Blank was married twice. He has three children with his first wife Diana. He also has three children with his second wife, Stephanie. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2015 . On March 17, 2016, he announced that he had overcome this.

Blank is a billionaire. According to the US business magazine Forbes , his fortune is about 2.6 billion US dollars (as of 2015). This puts him in 737th place on Forbes' list of the richest people in the world.
