Martha von Laffert

Martha von Laffert (born July 4, 1883 in Lennep ; † June 11, 1966 in Leutesdorf ) was a German painter .

Life

Martha Koenigs was the daughter of District Administrator Richard Koenigs . In her parents' house she came into contact with artists. In 1903 she married the Bavarian hussar officer von Lupine, who fell in Russia in 1917.

On September 9, 1918 Martha von Lupine came to Leutesdorf with her children Wolff and Erika . She lived in her house on August-Bungert-Allee until her death in 1966. On April 4, 1923, she married Karl von Laffert-Woldeck from Alkerhof near Brohl, a merchant near Rasselstein .

Painter from Leutesdorf

In the Leutesdorfer Heimatjahrbuch 1964 was referred to as the "painter of Leutesdorf".

Laffert is best known for watercolors of the Rhine landscape. Motifs such as the Leutesdorf customs gate or the two churches are repeated several times. Countless watercolors were created, which show the old winegrowers' houses and alleys, the river landscape and the vineyards.

In 1991, on the 25th anniversary of his death, and in 2016, on the 50th anniversary of his death, commemorative exhibitions took place in Leutesdorf.
