Max Richard Walther Koenigs (born March 28, 1853 in Dülken , † February 14, 1921 in Düsseldorf ) was a German administrative officer.

Life

Koenigs attended high school in Barmen (Abitur 1870) and, after completing his military duties with the 7th Jäger Battalion and participating in the French campaign from Easter 1871, studied law in Heidelberg , Göttingen , Bonn and Berlin . In Heidelberg he was a member of the Corps Rhenania , in Göttingen of the Corps Hildeso-Guestphalia . In September 1875 he began his preparatory service as a court referendar in Cologne and, after completing his training and passing the major state examination (1881), was employed as a court assessor at the Cologne District Court . From 1882 to 1899 Koenigs was district administrator for the Lennep district . He then moved to the government of Düsseldorf as senior government councilor, where he retired as government vice-president on September 30, 1916. Richard Koenigs was a younger brother of the banker Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Koenigs .

Awards

Koenigs was an honorary citizen of Wermelskirchen , from 1900 of Lennep (for special services to business and industry), Remscheid and from January 5, 1900 of Lüttringhausen . Richard-Koenigs-Straße in Remscheid-Lüttringhausen is named after him. In 1899 Koenigs was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV. Class and when he retired from the service in 1916 the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves.
