Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Koenigs

Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Koenigs (born June 15, 1843 , † July 24, 1904 in Cologne ) was a German banker .

Life

Ernst Koenigs was appointed to the board of the A. Schaaffhausen'schen Bankverein in Cologne in 1871 . He held this position until 1896 when he moved to the supervisory board .

In 1872 he married Johanna Bunge (March 18, 1851 - 1934), daughter of the Cologne merchant Gustav Bunge, who had Sinzig Castle built as a summer residence for his family. After the death of her parents, Johanna Bunge inherited the castle.

His father was the Kommerzienrat Franz Wilhelm Koenigs (May 8, 1819 - 1882), who from 1832 completed his apprenticeship in the Dülken thread factory of his uncle Gerhard Mevissen (January 25, 1776 - 1843). There he married his commercially active cousin Wilhelmine Mevissen (1809–1873), the sister of Gustav Mevissen , with whom Franz Wilhelm Koenigs worked closely in 1843 . In October 1856 the family moved to Cologne with six children.

Ernst Koenigs died in 1904 at the age of 61 and was buried in the family vault at the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (MA, between lit. P + Q).
