Felix Koenigs

Felix Koenigs (born May 18, 1846 , † September 24, 1900 in Paris ) was a German banker .

In 1866 Koenigs joined the banking and commission business Delbrück, Leo & Co. founded by Adelbert Delbrück in 1857 , became an authorized signatory and in 1878 a personally liable partner.

His older brother Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Koenigs was appointed member of the board of the Schaaffhausen'schen Bankverein in Cologne in 1871 . His younger brother is the chemist Wilhelm Koenigs .

Felix Koenigs was one of the founders and financiers of the Berlin villa colony Grunewald in the 1890s and owned several properties here. According to him, Koenigssee and Koenigsallee named.

Koenigs was friends with numerous artists such as Adolf Brütt , Max Klinger , Wilhelm Leibl and Hans Olde and was an art collector himself. He lived on Koenigsallee in the immediate vicinity of the sculptor Otto Lessing (1846–1912), with whom he shared a love of art and with whom he once traveled to Venice to buy pictures .

For the Paris World Exposition in 1900 traveled with Koenigs Brütt and Klinger, the latter portrayed the deceased suddenly there on his deathbed. Koenig's estate was conveyed to the Berlin National Gallery through Brütt . The sculptures by Auguste Rodin, among others, and paintings by Christian Adam Landenberger and Giovanni Segantini , among others , are part of the foundation of modernism in the Nationalgalerie's collection.

The family grave of the Koenigs family, created by Ludwig Brunow , is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (MA, between lit. P + Q).
