Martin Baumbach

Martin Baumbach (* around 1981 ) is a German strength athlete .

In 2005 he was third in the weight class up to 125 kilograms at the World Championships of the Global Powerlifting Committee (GPC) in bench press . He achieved further successes at GPC World Championships in 2006 with a fourth place and in 2007 with a second place. In 2008 he was then in the weight class up to 110 kilograms with a result of 282.5 kilograms GPC world champion. In the same year he started at the World United Amateur Powerlifting (WUAP) championships and became vice world champion there. In 2009 he became world champion at the WUAP World Championship.

Baumbach also took part in several GPC European championships in the weight class up to 125 kilograms. He finished third in 2006, and fourth in 2007 and 2008.

In 2010 he became German bench press champion with a weight of 285 kilograms.

In 2009, Baumbach was allowed to enter the Golden Book of the City of Magdeburg in recognition of his sporting success as a strength athlete at the World Championships .
