history

The publishing house was founded in 1869 as Rubin Verlag . Louis Köhler bought the publishing house in 1898 and founded Louis Köhler's Tegernseer Bauerntheater in 1900. The theater toured Europe and America, making the publisher's plays known. After Louis Köhler's death in 1909, Wilhelm Köhler took over his father's publishing house. From 1931 the publishing house was located on Ungererstraße in Munich. In 1936 the current name of the publisher was adopted. In 1938 the widow Ottilie Köhler succeeded her deceased husband. In 1945 the daughters Marianne and Lilli Köhler started working in the publishing house. In 1963 the daughters took over the management after the death of their mother. In 1964 and 1982, the grandchildren Elke Buckel and Erika Doerfler joined the company. In 1989 the publishing house was given a managing director, Ludwig Schaffernicht. Elke Buckel became co-owner in 1992, and in 1994 her daughter Nathalie Wieland began working for the publishing house. In 2011 Nathalie Wieland became a co-owner instead of Lilli Köhler, who died in 2009. In 2014 Natalie Wieland took over all shares and became the sole owner. Marianne Eyrainer, formerly Köhler, died that same year. In 2015 the publishing house moved to Munich- Trudering .
