Martin Blechschmidt

Martin Blechschmidt (* 1970 in Aachen ) is a high school teacher and was the national coach of the German national team in men's sitting volleyball .

Martin Blechschmidt attended the Goethe-Gymnasium in Stolberg (Rhineland) , where he graduated from high school in 1990. After the first and second state exams, he works as a grammar school teacher for sports and geography.

Through his parents, who were both active and successful volleyball players, Martin Blechschmidt came into contact with this sport at an early age. He did not limit himself to the activity as a player, but soon made the coach training. In his hometown club, Martin Blechschmidt worked successfully for many years in the performance-oriented promotion of young talent. He also coached the volleyball players from TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the 1st Bundesliga as an assistant coach . At the West German Volleyball Association, he has been a lecturer in the teaching staff since 1996, responsible for the area of ​​trainer education and training.

In October 2006, Martin Blechschmidt was appointed by the DBS / NPC (Deutscher Disabled Sports Association / National Paralympic Committee Germany) as the national coach of the German national team in sitting volleyball.

At the 2007 European Championships in Nyíregyháza, Hungary, the German team won the bronze medal and qualified for the 2008 World Intercontinental Cup in Ismaelia (Egypt). At the end of May, the team played a few test games as part of the Sarajevo Open 2008 in Bosnia-Herzegovina. At the 2009 European Championships in Elbląg (Poland), the German team won the bronze medal. After this success, Martin Blechschmidt resigned from his position for professional reasons.

In November 2007 Martin Blechschmidt took over from Dr. Karl Quade as head coach of the sitting volleyball players of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and won the title for the German championship in 2008 with his team. This meant that TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen qualified for the European Cup in 2009. Blechschmidt resigned from his position here in November 2009.
