Martin Denny

Martin Denny (born April 10, 1911 in New York , † March 3, 2005 in Hawaii-Kai , Hawaii ) was an American jazz pianist.

Denny was particularly influenced by Cal Tjader . He is considered the greatest interpreter and co-inventor of the Exotica style, which he enriched with human-made bird calls.

Martin Denny had a top 2 hit in the USA in 1959 with Les Baxters Quiet Village . In the same year his album Exotica became the top 1 of the LP charts. His band included Julius Wechter and Arthur Lyman , who later started solo careers. Denny lived in Hawaii .
