Martin Emmer
Martin Emmer (* 1969 in Munich ) is a German communication scientist . He is the founding director of the Weizenbaum Institute for the networked society .
Life
From 1991 Emmer studied communication science, political science and psychology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and in 1993 moved to the Free University of Berlin , where he received his master's degree in 1997 from Hans-Jürgen Weiß and Armin Scholl .
He then got a position as a research assistant with Gerhard Vowe at the TU Ilmenau , where he received his doctorate summa cum laude in 2004. His dissertation “Political Mobilization through the Internet?” Was awarded the 2005 Commerzbank Foundation dissertation prize.
From 2004 to 2011 Emmer was a research assistant at Jens Wolling . After several professorships, Emmer has been professor for journalism and communication studies with a focus on media use at the FU Berlin since 2011 .
