Martin Hvastija

Martin Hvastija (born November 30, 1969 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian cyclist .

Martin Hvastija began his career in 1996 with the Italian racing team Cantina Tollo . After three years he moved to Alessio , where he was able to celebrate his first successes in 2001. First he won a stage of the Ruta del Sol and later the Belgian one-day race Omloop Vlaamse Scheldeboorden . In 2002 he competed in the Tour de France for the first time and finished it in 128th place overall. After a year at Tenax , he came back to Alessio-Bianchi in 2004 , where he won one stage of the peace ride. At the Tour de France he was excluded from the tour on the first day of rest after the eighth stage because he was involved in an ongoing doping process. In 2005 he drove another year for Perutnina Ptuj before ending his career.
