Martin Lipp (lawyer)

Martin Lipp (* 1950 in Günzburg ) is a German legal scholar and former professor at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen .

Life

From 1971 Lipp studied law at the University of Augsburg . There he laid his 1978 First State Examination and received his doctorate in 1979 at Hans Schlosser Dr. iur. He then worked at his chair, initially as a research assistant and later as a temporary academic advisor . Lipp also completed his habilitation with Schlosser in 1986, whereupon the University of Augsburg awarded him the Venia legendi for the subjects of civil law, German legal history, and recent history of private law.

After working as a private lecturer at the University of Konstanz , Lipp held a chair at the University of Bochum from 1991 , but in 1992 he switched to the chair for civil law, German legal history and modern history of private law at the University of Dresden . In 1996 he also worked as a judge at the Dresden Higher Regional Court and in the same year moved to the University of Gießen , where he held the professorship for German legal history, modern history of private law and civil law until his release in 2015. His successor in Giessen was Thorsten Keizer . From 2003 to 2004 Lipp was also Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Giessen. Since his retirement, Lipp has been working as a freelance lawyer.
