Martin de Jonge (born June 22, 1981 in Rotterdam ) is a Dutch - Austrian badminton player .

Career

Martin de Jonge learned to play badminton in the Netherlands, but moved to Austria at the age of 17 after differences with the Dutch national coach. In his new home he was junior champion in men's singles in 2002 and 2003. In the last year he was also Austrian for the first time in the men's doubles with Heimo Götschl . In the following season, both were able to defend this title. In the Austrian national team he started in the Thomas Cup in 2002 and in the Sudirman Cup in 2003 . After lengthy problems with the Achilles tendon , he had to end his professional badminton career in 2006. During his career he played in the teams of Ribad Ridderkerk, BCR '91 Rotterdam, Velo Den Haag, Hernals Wien, ESBV Panache and BC Schijndel. Since the 2018/2019 season he has been playing in Bremen's highest league for TV Eiche Horn.
