Martin de Lonneux (also: de Loneux; baptized January 9, 1753 in Aachen ; † January 1795 ibid) was aldermen of Aachen and leader of the coup during the Aachen complaint .

Life

Martin de Lonneux was born in Aachen at the beginning of January 1753 and was christened Martin Franz Jakob Joseph Anton on January 9th. His parents were the aldermen and multiple mayor Martin Lambert de Lonneux and his third wife Maria Johanna Theresia Deltour.

Martin de Lonneux completed his law studies as a licentiate. It is not known when he was elected lay judge. In 1771 he joined the star guild, the professional representation of the Aachen lay judges. In 1778 he is documented for the only time as a lay judge. On May 10, 1783 he married Maria Theresia Anna Wilhelmine Walburga Freiin von Geyr-Schweppenburg in Cologne.

Martin de Lonneux played a leading role in the Aachen brokering . In 1786 he signed a letter of complaint against the multiple mayor Stephan Dominicus Dauven , who was up for election again this year. Of the lay judges, only Philipp de Witte signed this letter. When Dauven actually narrowly won the election, Lonneux accused him of electoral fraud. Lonneux supporters, who called themselves New Party, stormed the town hall and forced Dauven to abdicate. Alderman Mayor Johann Jakob von Wylre was forced to convene a council meeting in which a mayor from the New Party was elected. Lonneux himself became a member of the city council. After the town hall had been vacated by Jülich troops on the orders of the emperor in 1787, Lonneux was arrested and not released again until 1790.

He died in Aachen in early January 1795 and was buried on January 6th.
