Martin van Oedt

Martin van Oedt († 1536 ) was a priest and vicar general in Cologne .

Martin van Oedt, who came from Kempen or nearby Oedt , was Dr. decr. (of the decretals , i.e. of canon law ). In 1506 he became professor of law at the old University of Cologne . From 1507 he was vice-chancellor of the university and from 1509 official of the archbishop of Cologne , in 1516 he became canon and acted as vicar general from 1519 to 1524.

Martin was also the builder of the oldest stone-built house in Kempen from 1524, called Haus Nievenheim.
