Martina Klenk

Martina Klenk (* 1961 ) is a German midwife and the current President of the German Midwives Association (DHV).

Klenk passed her midwifery exam in 1994 and then worked at the gynecological clinic of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . After training as a practice supervisor, she became head of the delivery room and finally head of the obstetrics department in 2000.

After she has been a full-time functionary of the DHV since 2005, she was elected President in November 2009 to succeed Helga Albrecht . In this function, she submitted an online petition to the German Bundestag on May 5, 2010 to draw attention to the rising liability premiums and the general poor pay of midwives. Due to the success of this petition, Klenk spoke to the Petitions Committee of the Bundestag on June 28, 2010 .
