The Maruhubi Palace (Maruhubi Palace Ruins) is located on the coast of Zanzibar , 3 km north of the world-famous old town Stone Town, part of the capital Zanzibar City .

Erected in 1882 for Sultan Barghasch ibn Said ( Sultan of Zanzibar from 1870 to 1888), the palace burned down almost completely in 1899. Up to this point in time, the sultan's harem, numbering 99 women, lived in this palace. In addition to the foundation walls and meter-high stone columns, the two bath houses are the only parts of the building that have been preserved.
