Mary Garcia Castro (* 20th century) is a Brazilian sociologist known for her gender work approach.

Castro received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Florida in 1989 with a thesis on female household heads in Brazil . She was a professor at the Universidade Federal da Bahia . Her best-known writing is Muchachas no more: household workers in Latin America and the Caribbean .

In 2015 she was awarded the Diploma Bertha Lutz .
