The Marzilibad , or Marzili for short , is an open-air swimming pool in the Marziliquartier on the Aare in Bern and one of the most popular baths in Switzerland .

The Marzili is sponsored by public law and entry is therefore free. Swimming in the Aare river is particularly good at Marzili . At several points by the bath and upstream from it, accesses with stairs and handrails are built into the river. Bathers change their clothes in the bath and take a path upstream to the entry point of their choice, from where they move in the rather fast current to an exit in the area of the bath. In the area there is a large swimming pool, a diving tower (1 m and 3 m), two smaller pools, a children's pool and the Buberseeli. In addition, there is the “Paradiesli” open-air booth, in which female visitors have the opportunity to sunbathe unclothed. In spring 2019 a swimming channel from the Aare into the Bueberseeli was opened.

The Marzilibad is located at the foot of the hill on which the Federal Palace stands and is one of the most important meeting places in the city of Bern in summer. There is also a restaurant in the Marzili area.

The first Marzilibad dates back to 1782. At that time, bathing cost admission, which is why the bath was called Füferweiher . The Füferweiher soon became a sun and air bath set up by naturists with separate departments for men and women. In 1822, Phokion Heinrich Clias opened the academic bathing establishment - an oval swimming pool fed by the Aare - on the site of today's Marzili baths . It was not until 1957 that the green area was added to this facility, and in 1968 the 50-meter pool that is still in existence today was added. There is currently a discussion about how the bathroom will change after its total renovation in 2022/23.
