from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Masakatsu Bōjutsu is a system of exercises with the (Japanese long stick), which was developed by the founder of Aikidō , Ueshiba Morihei .

description

The Masakatsu Bōjutsu comprises several Kata , with the help of which students can train the correct movement sequences in (unarmed) Aikidō.

Masakatsu Bōjutsu is unknown even to most Aikidō schools. In 1957, Ueshiba gave his long-time student Hikitsuchi Michio permission to preserve and pass on the art of Masakatsu Bōjutsu. Ueshiba recorded all movements in a paper, the "Bo-Jutsu Masakatsu Oku Hisaden", which Hikitsuchi Michio kept until his death in 2004. The exercises are presented with drawings and an explanatory text by Ueshiba Morihei.

Masakatsu Bōjutsu is taught in Europe today by Gérard Blaize , one of Hikitsuchi's students, and the schools that follow his form of Aikidō.
