Masaru Arai

Masaru Arai ( Japanese 新 井 優 , Arai Masaru ; * 1952 ) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and asteroid explorer .

He works at the observatory in Yorii (IAU Code 875), where, together with Hiroshi Mori , he has discovered a total of 45 asteroids since 1988. On January 5, 1991, he discovered comet C / 1991 A2 (Arai) .

The asteroid (21082) Araimasaru was named after him.
