The documentary series Machines of Death - Inventions for the Executioner is about the historical development of execution and torture in Europe, North America and China from ancient times to the present. Using animations, experiments with animal bodies, dummies, human test candidates and device replicas, the working methods of execution devices such as guillotines , gallows and torture tools are shown. B. Thumbscrews , stretching bench and others shown. Forensic doctors and craftsmen explain and demonstrate the medical and physical characteristics of each type of execution and their effects on the human body. Historians explain the historical and social background of the torture and execution methods.
