history

The trained fitter and agricultural machinery master Georg Dexheimer (* 1859) founded a repair workshop for agricultural equipment in Wallertheim in 1885 under the name Dexheimer-Landmaschinen . In 1886 the office building was built on Wallertheimer Straße. In 1889 the company was expanded to include a trading business for agricultural machinery and equipment. The company grew steadily, so that in 1910 the construction of a new workshop building in Wallertheimer Bahnhofstrasse began. Georg Dexheimer died at the age of 53 before it was completed, after which his son Jakob (* 1888) continued to run the family business. In 1915 Jakob Dexheimer was drafted into the military. He did not return home until 1918 after the end of the First World War . Since the workshop equipment had been deported by the French occupying forces, he was facing a new beginning.

In 1919 Karl Decker, Jakob Dexheimer's son-in-law, joined the company and took over commercial management. Since the production of grape mills, potato mills, field and handcarts increased sharply, further buildings were built for production in 1921 and 1924. In 1952 the children Fritz-Karl, Charlotte, Elisabeth and Katharina Decker take part in the business. Katharina and her husband Eduard Lenga set up their own agricultural machinery company in Westphalia. But after the death of Jakob Dexheimer, they returned to Wallertheim and Eduard Lenga took over the technical management. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary in 1960, a new factory hall with office building is handed over.

When mechanization in viticulture began in the 1960s, Dexheimer developed a narrow-track tractor specifically for this area of work. In 1966 the DEXHEIMER Allrad 222 was presented. The first rigid, narrow-track tractor with all-wheel drive. Since Bungartz & Peschke were also interested in offering their narrow-track tractors with all-wheel drive, they acquired a production license for the front axle from Dexheimer. The demand for the Dexheimer tractors was so great that in 1968 an own production plant was built at the Wallertheimer train station. In 1969 the tractor production was spun off from the agricultural machinery company Georg Dexheimer KG into the machine factory Dexheimer & Co KG. In 1981 Rainer Lenga took over the management of the company.

In 1989, the machine factory Dexheimer & Co. KG was renamed the machine factory Dexheimer GmbH.

According to the manufacturer, the production of viticulture tractors was discontinued in 2013.
