Mascot is a software for analysis of data from the protein - mass spectrometry for the operating systems Windows and Linux.

use

It is used to identify peptides and proteins in proteomics by performing a database search.

Numerous institutions use Mascot, either as a licensed in-house installation or via the public web server.

Mascot is based on MOWSE , developed by Darryl Pappin and David Perkins at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and licensed from Cancer Research Technology.

The performance of various evaluation software for proteomics can be viewed in a study by the Proteome Informatics Research Group (iPRG) .
