Masquerade Ridge (English for Maskeradengrat ) is an 8 km ridge in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises 16 miles north of Clarkson Peak on the eastern flank of Robb Glacier .
The American geologists John Frederick Splettstoesser (1933–2016) and John D. Gunner collected rocks here in December 1969. The name of the ridge, suggested by Gunner, is due to the fact that it was featured on the cover of the US magazine Saturday Review on February 7, 1970, but was incorrectly written out as Coalsack Bluff .
