Altamira massacre 2019

The Altamira massacre took place on July 29, 2019 in the Brazilian prison of Altamira , the Centro de Recuperação Regional de Altamira. It is located on Avenida Tancredo Neves south of the city in the state of Pará .

In this prison riot end of July 2019, 62 people were killed. 16 of them were beheaded by fellow inmates. It was an attack by the Comando Classe A (CCA) from Pará against the rival Comando Vermelho ("Red Command"). 41 inmates died of smoke inhalation. Four other inmates were killed while being transported to another prison.
