Mass driver

An electromagnetic catapult or mass driver is a proposed concept for launching payloads or spaceships into space. The object to be accelerated should be accelerated to a high speed on a kilometer-long, straight stretch similar to the functional principle of a magnetic levitation train . This is intended to provide a large part of the energy required to achieve a stable orbit while stationary and to reduce transport costs. To transport passengers, the system must be greatly enlarged or lengthened in order to avoid excessive acceleration forces. A model test presented at MIT in 1977 should also be used on the moon.
