Massimo Mutarelli (born January 13, 1978 in Como ) is an Italian football coach and former player.

Player career

Massimo Mutarelli started his career as a footballer with Atalanta Bergamo , where he had already played as a youth. In his first two professional years with the first division club, however, he only made five appearances. For this reason he left the northern Italians and signed a contract with CFC Genoa , where he spent the following four years in Serie B as a regular player. In the summer of 2002, Mutarelli moved to league rivals US Palermo , with whom he was able to achieve promotion to the first division in the 2003/04 season. Mutarelli was also a regular in Palermo.

After moving to Lazio Rome in the summer of 2006, Mutarelli was also a regular midfielder in the capital and even played with his team in the Champions League in 2007/08 .

Mutarelli ended his playing career in 2012 and began a career as a football coach two years later, initially with the youth team of FC Empoli . From 2017 to 2019 he was assistant coach of the Italian U-21s .
