Massoud Azizi (born February 2, 1985 ) is an Afghan athlete . He was a member of the five-man team with which Afghanistan participated in the 2004 Summer Games for the first time since the 1996 Olympic Games .
Azizi was discovered in 2003 while training in the stadium in the Afghan capital Kabul by Zoi Livaditou , a representative of the Greek Foreign Ministry in Afghanistan. At her instigation and at the invitation of the International Olympic Committee , Azizi and four other Afghan athletes were given the opportunity to prepare for the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece.
Under the guidance of Grigoris Kontos , the former coach of the Greek 200 m Olympic champion Konstantinos Kenteris , Azizi managed to improve his time over 100 m from 11.74 seconds to 11.16 seconds within three months. He could not achieve this time in the Olympic prelim on August 21, 2004. With 11.66 seconds he was seventh of his prelim. In the final score, Azizi came in 79th place.
The following year he took part in Incheon at the 16th Asian Championships , but also failed in the run-up. In 2008 he took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing part in the 100-meter race.
At the 2013 World Cup , his doping test was positive for nandrolone and he was banned for two years.
