Under mast cell stabilizer , a group of is drugs with anti-allergic combined effect.

Mast cells are a group of cells of the immune system which , when stimulated by allergy-mediating antibodies, release the messenger substance histamine . Mast cell stabilizers intervene in these cells, stabilize the cell membrane and thereby prevent (at least partially) the mast cells from being able to release the histamine from the stores.

A possible overdose is safely eliminated by the body, which means that these preparations can be taken permanently. At the moment, two substances from the chemical group of cromogens , cromoglicic acid and nedocromil sodium , are primarily available in drugs.
