pharmacology
Area of application and mode of action
In addition to cromoglicic acid, Nedocromil is used to treat seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (allergic conjunctivitis) . They both belong to the active ingredient group of cromones .
Both substances can also be administered by inhalation as an alternative to glucocorticoids in mild allergic and non-allergic asthma and prophylactically . However, Nedocromil is not suitable for the treatment of acute asthma symptoms.
Nedocromil has a stabilizing effect on the histamine- storing or -producing mast cells by inhibiting degranulation, i.e. by inhibiting the release of mediators . However, this full effect does not appear until about one month after the start of treatment.
