Monopreparation

A monopreparation is a drug that contains only a single pharmacologically active component ( drug ). In addition to the active substance, it usually contains excipients ( pharmaceutical auxiliaries ) that give the drug its dosage form . As an example, the contraceptive is Minipille to mention that as the active ingredient only progestin - hormone contains.

The ingestion of monopreparations poses a lower risk of side effects for the body than the intake of those with several active ingredients, which are called combination preparations .
