Mizuko Masuda
Mizuko Masuda ( Japanese 増 田 み ず 子 , Masuda Mizuko ; born November 13, 1948 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese writer.
Masuda studied at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology ( Tōkyō nōkō daigaku ), where she received a degree in plant immunology in 1973. Until 1980 she taught in the Biochemistry Department of the Medical Faculty at Nihon University .
Her first short story Shigo no kankei ( 死後 の 関係 , 1977) was nominated for the Shinchō magazine's award for new authors . By 1983 she received six nominations for the Akutagawa Prize . She was awarded the Noma Literature Prize for Jiyū jikan (1985), the Izumi-Kyōka Literature Prize for Single Cell (1986) and the Itō-Sei Literature Prize for Tsukuyomi (2001).
